AtkinsRéalis is a key partner in the airports and aviation sector. We are hiring a Design & Construction Circularity & Waste Specialist to join our team. The specialist will lead and oversee the successful delivery of complex projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk standards. Experience in managing large infrastructure projects, especially in international airport development, is essential.


Location: Toronto, ON


Your role within the team:
  1. Coordinate construction sustainability goals related to recycling, reuse, and disposal.
  2. Support planning for waste and circularity programs, including terminal, outbuildings, construction, and off-aircraft waste.
  3. Ensure proper handling, recycling, disposal, and removal of waste, including hazardous materials.
  4. Design self-sustaining circular ecosystems and infrastructure, promoting innovative waste and pollution management solutions to reduce the carbon footprint.
  5. Collaborate with Stakeholder Relations and Communications and external stakeholders on sustainability strategies.
  6. Ensure the program and design incorporate sustainability principles and promote occupant well-being.
  7. Align with the airport client's vision for a sustainable, carbon-positive future.
  8. Mentor and support staff development.

  • Degree in engineering, planning, or sustainability with professional certification (PE, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP).
  • At least 5 years of experience in environment, energy, or sustainable design.
  • Experience delivering sustainability outcomes in infrastructure, especially large complex programs.
  • Understanding of reducing embedded carbon and achieving net-zero GHG facilities.
  • Experience in resource management, materials efficiency, and circular economy.
  • Strong technical skills across project phases and problem-solving, including data analytics.
