Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Solution Specialist to guide utilities through GridOS and Opus One deployments, translating customer needs into robust designs and implementations. You will partner with Solution Architects to shape architectures, define success criteria, and document requirements for successful delivery.

Responsibilities include leading design workshops, deploying solutions for DER planning, documenting acceptance criteria, and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

  • Education: You hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a focus on power systems.
  • Experience: You automate processes and build scripting solutions to support product solutions.
  • Knowledge: You are familiar with DER management, distribution planning, IT, SCADA and asset management.
  • Excel analysis, PowerPoint, and Visio proficiency are expected.
  • You deliver high-quality work on project deadlines with a teamwork focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist utilities in understanding DER impacts and present solutions for planning and management.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to inform architecture and define success criteria.
  • Deploy Opus One solutions in client environments for project use cases.
  • Document requirements, design diagrams, and capture acceptance criteria.
  • Lead workshops to gather functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Define user acceptance testing processes and progress metrics.

  • Create business cases and product requirements from customer processes.
  • Contribute to the Solutions team to expand offerings and best practices.
  • Develop user acceptance documentation and training materials.
  • Train customers on GridOS to achieve business outcomes.
  • Identify delivery risks and work with PMO on mitigation strategies.
  • Support sales with technical demos and future upsell opportunities.

Job Description
Who are you?

You are a passionate and technical customer-obsessed Solution Specialist who understands emerging energy industry trends and implications on utilities. You are a trusted advisor to the customer, providing technical expertise in the planning, design, build and implementation of Opus One and GE solutions to meet customer needs.

What will our new Solution Specialist work on?
  • Help utility customer understand the impacts of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the distribution system by providing utility customers with solutions to manage and plan for the emergence of more DERs

  • Work closely with Solution Architects to provide input on solution architecture based on customer needs and solution capabilities. Define success criteria and author solution diagrams for the project

  • Deploy Opus One solutions to client environments to support project use cases and DER planning scenarios

  • Outline project goals, objectives, requirements, and technical functionality. Design, diagram, and document solutions to achieve the identified customer requirements and use cases

  • Facilitate requirements, design, and solutions workshops that capture functional and non-functional requirements from the client and relay them to the internal product and development teams

  • Document and design customer-specific solution requirements, capturing acceptance criteria and necessary features

  • Define the user acceptance testing process and test cases, and articulate progress metrics

  • Work with the Project Managers to develop, document and standardize new internal and external processes, expectations, and deliverables across multiple projects

  • Create business cases and new product requirements by understanding customer business processes and policies

  • Collaborate with other members of the Solutions team to expand our solution consulting and delivery practice, build standards of excellence, and continuously deliver innovative solution offerings for clients

  • Use internal software demonstrations to develop user acceptance documentation, training powerpoint modules, training video modules

  • Train utility customers and end users on how to use GridOS to achieve their business cases.

  • Identify project delivery risks, recommending potential mitigation strategies, in collaboration with Project Management Office

  • Support sales activities on occasion, providing technical demos and also identifying possible future upsell opportunities during the course of the project

Requirements
Here’s what you bring:
  • Education. You hold a Bachelors degree in Engineering or a similar program, with a focus on power systems or relevant experience.

  • Experience. You are comfortable automating processes and utilizing or building scripting solutions to support product solutions

  • Knowledge. You are highly familiar with emerging energy industry trends and implications on utility customers in the area of DER management, distribution planning, IT, SCADA and asset management. You have a strong background in Excel analysis, Powerpoint, and Visio.

  • Excellence. You get things done within project deadlines, and with strong focus on quality.

  • Teamwork . You are a natural collaborator, and demonstrate a "we before me" attitude.

Nice to have:
  • Experience with scripting in VBA or with python

  • Masters degree

  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and deployment activities

  • Utility integration experience (E.g. SCADA, ADMS, OT, OMS etc.)

  • Experience with power system analysis software (E.g. OpenDSS, CYME, Powerfactory, Synergi etc.)

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $66,000.00 and $99,000.00 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: 10% AIP
