The role supports outpatient care with connections to local plastic surgery, oncology and hospital teams, while enabling outreach to distant communities.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative Department of Medicine, with opportunities to teach through the UBC Northern Medical Program and participate in virtual grand rounds.
Northern Health is seeking a full-time Dermatologist to provide regional services to Northern BC. The position is based in Prince George (population approx 80,000) with referrals coming from surrounding communities serving a population of approx. 400,000. There are opportunities for outreach clinics to communities within Northern Health.
Prince George offers a supportive and welcoming medical community with support from plastic surgery, general surgery, medical oncology, and radiation oncology available locally. Currently there is one board certified Dermatologist practicing within Northern Health, with an outpatient practice in Prince George. There is an outpatient NB-UVB phototherapy booth in Prince George, and hospital based phototherapy units in the communities of Prince Rupert and Terrace. Augment your clinical practice with teaching opportunities through the UBC Northern Medical Program as a faculty member with the UBC Department of Dermatology and Skin Science. Stay connected with BC's dermatologists with weekly virtual Grand Rounds from UBC in Vancouver, where challenging patient cases can be submitted for review and discussion.
The successful candidate will join the Department of Medicine at the University Hospital of Northern BC, a dynamic team of 20+ physicians including: General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Infectious Diseases, Respirology, Neurology, Rheumatology, and Endocrinology. There are no on-call requirements for Dermatology. While the majority of patients will be seen in an outpatient setting there is an opportunity to see hospital consults. Adjacent to the hospital, the new BC Cancer Centre provides residents of Northern BC increased access to cancer treatment and services closer to home. Candidate would be responsible for running their own private practice and Current dermatologist(s) Would share referrals to help establish practice
