Job summary

Central Elgin seeks a Manager of Financial Services / Deputy Treasurer to oversee municipal finances, ensure policy compliance, and backfillDirector duties when needed. You will supervise finance staff and contribute to strategic budgeting.

Role reports to the Director of Corporate Services / Treasurer, with 35 hours weekly and a starting wage of CAD 50.48 per hour. Location is Central Elgin, Ontario; evenings and meetings may affect hours.

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in finance, accounting, business or commerce with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA).
MAP/MAFP is an asset.
Minimum municipal or public sector finance experience needed.

Responsibilities

In the absence of the Director of Corporate Services/Treasurer, perform the statutory duties of the Municipal Treasurer under relevant Acts.
Manage full cycle accounting to generate timely information for decision making and compliance.
Review bylaws and policies; implement approved amendments.
Collaborate on budget planning and reporting for Municipal Budgets.
Prepare monthly variance analyses and departmental operating statements.
Assist with cash, investments, reserves and debt administration.
Oversee general ledger reconciliations and coordinate audits.
Prepare working papers for year-end audit and closing entries.
