Deputy Project Manager – Waterfront Operations (Permanent)

Expected Salary: $88,641 to $110,801

In determining the final salary, Babcock will consider a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and be presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a team of 2-4 direct reports, and the project activities of up to a 200-person indirect workforce
  • Support the Project Manager-Major Projects in the day-to-day management of project performance by:
  • Leading the planning, execution, and close-out of all project activities
  • Managing project scope, deliverables, and change for assigned activities
  • Helping develop and lead the implementation of full-scale project management plans
  • Managing costs and budgets, through effective engagement with functional group stakeholders
  • Developing and managing project schedules, including the definition and achievement of key events cardinal dates
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress of the project to appropriate stakeholders through the development of effective performance management tools
  • Executing the project management cycle from beginning to end stages

Be an active member of the Project Management Team in developing and communicating strategies and plans, including setting objectives across the organization to meet program goals

Coordinate stakeholders, service providers, and subcontractors to deliver on project commitments

Ensure that active risk and opportunity management is employed to reduce the impact on schedule and develop recovery plans when issues arise

Integrate the Functional Teams, including Production, Commissioning, Engineering, Planning, and Quality to ensure systems are handed over and set to work seamlessly

Develop and deliver performance improvement initiatives while supporting other departments to identify and deliver on their own initiatives in support of the project goals

Perform other duties as necessary

The ideal candidate brings

Have a post secondary education in an Engineering or Project Management discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

  • Earn Value Management – must have real time experience using it and the ability to leverage opportunities using the data
  • P6/MSP/Scheduling experience – Must have significant experience in working with detail level schedules and the ability to leverage opportunities and deal with a dynamic schedule, changes/opportunities on larger dynamic type projects.
  • Project management qualification – Registration with Project Management Institute (PMI) is a minimum. Preference for higher if possible
  • Big project experience – Someone with large dynamic project experience, who understand these types of challenges and can add value, preferably within the marine industry
  • Customer facing and strong communication skills – Someone with a level of experience that can take on additional responsibilities when required.
  • Reporting– Experience reporting at multiple tiered levels, understanding what needs to be reported at levels for the audience and generating quality concise information
  • Attention to detail – Must have a good mindset around attention to detail, strong organization skills and a meticulous nature with the right attitude
  • Leadership - a proven track record of effective leadership in a diverse and complex stakeholder environment

Have strong knowledge of:

  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes and systems
  • Planning, Scheduling, Risk
  • Project Management Controls
