Job description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Deputy Program Manager Delivery for a full-time position based in any of our Greater Toronto Area offices, with Mississauga preferred. The candidate will serve as the primary program delivery leader for a 6-year initiative to expand water and wastewater utilities, supporting the city's sustainable future. Projects include drinking water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure, covering planning, feasibility, design, and construction oversight.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Program Manager and client in establishing strategic delivery plans for timely and cost-effective project completion
  • Developing and leading a high-performing team for complex multidisciplinary water and wastewater projects
  • Collaborating effectively within teams and communicating clearly with project members and stakeholders
  • Building strong relationships through effective communication with the communications team and stakeholders
  • Working closely with project managers and engineers to lead design and construction delivery
  • Standardizing reporting and project methodology to ensure quality and standards are met
  • Overseeing technical reports, calculations, design decisions, specifications, tender documents, and review of design drawings
  • Conducting quality reviews of deliverables
  • Coordinating design efforts, managing schedules, and tracking budgets in liaison with disciplines
  • Performing site visits during design and construction phases
  • Ensuring continuity of delivery from design through construction
  • Mentoring and guiding technical staff

Qualifications include:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of related experience in municipal water and wastewater projects or equivalent experience/education
  • Experience overseeing technical aspects of capital projects over CAD $100 million

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of relevant experience, preferably including tunneling or alternative delivery methods
  • Post-graduate degree in water or wastewater treatment
  • Registration as a professional engineer in Ontario
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including report writing
