Job summary

City of Maple Ridge seeks a Deputy Director of Finance to lead accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. You will oversee external audits, PSAS compliance, and internal controls while guiding staff through complex financial processes.

The role reports to the Director of Finance, provides financial analysis, policy input, and support for council reporting. A CPA/CA and municipal experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business Administration with a CPA/CA designation.
• Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience.
• Experience preparing annual financial statements, coordinating external audits, applying PSAS, and maintaining internal financial controls.
• Payroll oversight experience in a unionized environment preferred.
• Experience with municipal financial systems and ERP is preferred.
• Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Lead the City’s accounting and payroll functions and ensure compliant financial reporting.
• Oversee annual financial statements and external audits.
• Maintain internal financial controls and statutory reporting.
• Provide technical financial expertise and recommendations to leadership.
• Direct supervision of Manager of Accounting and Senior Payroll Coordinator.
