Job summary

Sport Chek in Nanaimo is seeking a Department Sales Manager for Store Operations with a passion for sports and an active lifestyle. You will lead an engaged team, coach staff, and orchestrate in-store and eCommerce sales to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a retail environment, preferably at a supervisory level.
• Proven track record of business growth and exceptional customer service skills.
• Demonstrated interest in or involvement in sports or sporting goods industry is a plus.
• Customer-focused mindset with ability to plan, execute and drive sales.
• Leads by example and has a passion for coaching, development and inspiring teams.
• Brand ambassador who takes pride in the sport retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop department team, set expectations and provide ongoing feedback.
• Build and manage a daily game and sales plan for the department.
• Create development plans for full-time staff and offer coaching to close performance gaps.
• Communicate skills and results through effective huddles, meetings and coaching sessions.
• Develop and maintain a positive work environment for staff.
• Ambassador and leader of the customer experience, building relationships with customers and mentoring staff.
• Provide guidance to ensure outstanding omni-channel experience with in-store and eCommerce.
• Lead by example, driving sales while maintaining service standards across the store.

What you’ll do

• As a Department Sales Manager of Store Operations, you have a passion for sports and live an active lifestyle.
• The digital world is your wheelhouse and operational excellence is where you excel.
• Providing exceptional omni-channel experience by offering in-store eCommerce sales and fulfilling eCommerce orders within defined service levels.
• You demonstrate a positive and engaged attitude when dealing with customers and employees and are responsible for coaching and developing your team.
• As an ambassador and leader of the customer experience you look to develop relationships with customers and provide mentorship and coaching to your team to ensure the same.
• Coach and develop your department team by setting expectations, keeping open lines of communication, coaching on a continual basis, providing constructive feedback, and ongoing support.
• Build and manage a daily game and sales plan for the department.
• Create development plans for full-time staff – providing support and coaching to improve any performance gaps.
• Communicate skills proven through effective huddles / meetings / coaching sessions.
• Develop and maintain a positive work environment for staff.

Our typical hiring range is between 45,000 and 57,000. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, store size and market location, industry
