Purpose

We are currently recruiting for a Department Manager, Mechanical Engineering. Our team includes world-class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop team members, overseeing their ongoing growth and project assignments.
  • Maintain team chargeability targets as set by the Director of Engineering.
  • Maintain individual chargeability targets as set by the Director of Engineering.
  • Manage discipline staffing levels and project discipline structures.
  • Create and update discipline guidelines.
  • Ensure mentoring and training requirements are met.
  • Manage employee performance review processes.
  • Facilitate coverage of activities when team members leave.
  • Ensure all mechanical and piping engineering work and activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and security standards.
  • Assist in developing proposals and estimating man-hours as needed.
  • Provide technical consultation to clients and management.
  • Ensure the quality of department deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Set standards and goals; enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Support HR policies; suggest revisions as needed.
  • Build effective relationships within the organization, employing diplomacy and clear communication.
  • Support project discipline leads and assist in resolving delivery issues.
What You Will Bring
Technical and Industry Experience
  • Significant experience including technical and supervisory roles.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ability to manage resources across multiple complex projects.
  • Experience recruiting and hiring personnel.
  • Strong background in discipline work, understanding regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Experience setting up disciplines, establishing work processes, and delivering projects.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for complex proposals.
  • Leadership skills in multicultural and multi-office environments.
  • Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
  • Experience developing proposals and estimating man-hours.
  • Understanding of project delivery, execution, and problem-solving.
  • Prior resource management and leadership experience.
  • Experience working with external workshare offices.
  • P.Eng. license in any Canadian province is preferred.
Required Education and Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering degree; working knowledge in Mechanical or Piping Engineering.

Salary range in British Columbia: $156,332 to $206,490. Salary varies based on qualifications, experience, location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.
