The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta invites applications for appointment as the academic Chair of the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging. Within the College of Health Sciences, the FoMD at the University of Alberta is internationally recognized as a top-five health sciences faculty in Canada and top-75 worldwide. The Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging is a leading clinical and academic centre dedicated to excellence in medical imaging, education and research. The department provides clinical training through Royal College accredited residency programs, fellowship programs and undergraduate electives. Faculty and trainees work across a wide network of hospitals and clinics in the Edmonton region ensuring exposure to a broad spectrum of cases and advanced imaging technologies. The department supports a strong research training program with students in thesis-based MSc. and PhD. Programs. The department is home to world-class research facilities such as the Peter S. Allen MR Research Centre and the Servier Virtual Cardiac Centre which work in close partnership with FoMD Research Institutes, the Department of Biomedical Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the AI + Health Hub to drive cutting-edge research and exceptional clinical care. Through its integration of clinical practice, research, and teaching, the department plays a vital role in advancing diagnostic imaging in Alberta and beyond.

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta invites applications for appointment as the academic Chair of the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging. The Department provides clinical training across residency programs, fellowship programs and undergraduate electives, with a network of hospitals and clinics in the Edmonton region to expose learners to a broad spectrum of imaging technologies. The FoMD supports a strong research training program with thesis-based MSc. and PhD. students and hosts world-class facilities such as the Peter S. Allen MR Research Centre and the Servier Virtual Cardiac Centre in collaboration with related institutes and departments. The Chair will lead collaboratively to advance excellence and innovation in education and research to improve the health of current and future generations.

Responsibilities

The University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry invites applications for Chair of the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging from (1) current UofA academic faculty who hold a PhD or MD and (2) external candidates who hold an MD (may have additional degrees) who are able to provide clinical radiology and diagnostic imaging services in a manner that meets the expectations of both the University and Alberta Health Services. The Chair will lead collaboratively to advance excellence and innovation in education and research to improve the health of current and future generations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Applicants with an MD will hold certification in diagnostic radiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or an equivalent) and be eligible for licensure as a specialist in diagnostic radiology in the Province of Alberta.
