JOB TITLE: Department Assistant | #2008
SERVICE AREA: Client Services
LOCATION: Richmond, BC
START DATE: May 01, 2025
TERM/STATUS: Permanent Full Time
SCHEDULE/HRS: Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 // 37.5 hours per week
HOURLY WAGE: $26.64 as per collective agreement

THE ROLE:

The Department Assistant will assist/support the Client Services area and programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  1. Grade 12, plus completion of at least one year in secretarial training, business, or office administration.
  2. Minimum of two years administrative experience.
  3. Proficient in MS Office Suite, accurate typing skills of 60 wpm.
  4. Experience working with multi-line phones and use of databases.

Standard requirements of the Department Assistant include:

  1. Criminal Record Clearance
  2. Medical Clearance
  3. Proficiency working with a variety of office equipment
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  5. Strong interpersonal skills
  6. Excellent verbal and written English communication skill
  7. Ability to respond/communicate with public and staff in a positive, professional and courteous manner
  8. Ability to work independently, to set priorities and work to deadlines
  9. Ability to effectively organize work and multi-task
  10. Strong attention to detail
  11. Ability to lift 20 pounds
  12. Ability to sit for long periods
  13. Manual dexterity to use office equipment
  14. Dress code requires appearance suitable to meet the public
