Amazing Opportunity for a Dental Hygienist

We have a high earning opportunity for a hygienist to join an established practice in Castlebar, Co. Mayo!

Salary: 45€ per hour

Existing full patient book on offer for 4 days, 32 hours. Fixed Term Contract!

The hygienist is responsible for providing excellent service, working closely with the dental team, taking instructions from the dentist and practice manager, and owning clinical policies and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Confirm medical and dental histories; maintain documentation and patient charts.
  2. Record the hard and soft tissue and periodontal status.
  3. Clean and polish teeth.
  4. Provide supra and subgingival scaling, including comprehensive root surface debridement, and apply medicaments when indicated.
  5. Apply prophylactic materials such as solutions, gels, and sealants to teeth and/or gums.
  6. Advise on oral health, including planning and implementing oral health promotion, smoking cessation, and diet analysis for caries prevention and personalized plaque control.
  7. Re-fit crowns with temporary cement and place temporary dressings if crowns or fillings become dislodged during treatment.
  8. Take and process dental radiographs as prescribed by a dentist (after completing a Dental Council approved course).
  9. Administer local infiltration and block anesthesia to patients as prescribed by a dentist (after completing relevant courses).
  10. Maintain clinical areas and equipment in a clean, tidy, and sterile manner, following health and safety policies, manufacturer instructions, and infection control standards.
  11. Ensure adequate stock levels for smooth clinic operation and notify staff when supplies diminish.
  12. Report and record any patient safety incidents.
  13. Assist in handling and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines.
