the firm delivers comprehensive solutions nationwide.

At Smith + Andersen our employees contribute to some of the most sustainable building design projects in Canada. This Opportunity

The Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking an intermediate Deltek Vantagepoint Specialist to support the effective use, administration, and continued improvement of Vantagepoint across our engineering consulting practice. This will be a hands‑on role focused on maintaining reliable data, developing useful reports and dashboards, improving workflows, and supporting employees who use the system. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, understanding business requirements, and translating them into practical improvements within Vantagepoint.

The position works closely with Finance, Operations, Project Managers, and business leaders throughout the organization. While there is exposure to financial and project data, this is not a traditional accounting or controller role. Instead, the focus is on optimizing how Deltek Vantagepoint is used across the business, improving processes and reporting, and helping stakeholders leverage data to make more informed decisions and operate more effectively.

This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.

Why choose Smith + Andersen?

In addition to an exciting career filled with meaningful work, we offer:

  • Flexible hours and half day Fridays (all year round)
  • Comprehensive Group Health Benefits Program, including a Health Spending Account
  • Group Retirement Savings Plan (Employer and Employee Contributions)
  • Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP)
  • Purchase Time off Program
  • Wide variety of community and social events
What You’ll Do
  • Lead the evolution of Deltek Vantagepoint to support project delivery, operations, financial management, and resource planning.
  • Design, build, and maintain custom reports, invoices, dashboards, KPIs, and data‑quality controls.
  • Develop custom Vantagepoint solutions, including hubs, fields, workflows, interfaces, and business process automation.
  • Own the firm's reporting strategy, ensuring stakeholders have reliable operational and financial insights.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve business processes through system capabilities and emerging features.
  • Act as the primary liaison with Deltek and external consultants for enhancements, troubleshooting, and technical initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and knowledge‑sharing materials for system configurations and custom solutions.
  • Support testing, adoption, training, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Who You Are:
  • Extensive experience with Deltek Vantagepoint (or Vision) within a project‑based professional services environment.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL Server, SQL, SSRS, RDL, and enterprise reporting best practices.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, financial management, operational metrics, and business workflows.
  • Experience with XML, APIs, integrations, data migration, and information governance.
  • Proficient with Git‑based version control and collaborative development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable system solutions.
  • Comfortable working with executive leadership, operations, finance, project teams, IT, and external partners.
  • Self‑directed, highly organized, and capable of managing competing priorities in a complex environment.
