Job description

SPUD is looking for a permanent part-time Delivery Driver to join our team based in Victoria, BC

(1015 Henry Eng Place Victoria, Langford, BC). Shifts will be scheduled between Wednesday to Friday, and occasionally on Saturdays.

Our Delivery Team Members deliver grocery orders to customers of Spud, and its partners, based on assigned routes and instructions, providing exceptional customer service. They also support the Operations team in the Warehouse.

SPUD.ca is an online grocery delivery business in Western Canada. We are a passionate team who believe that food touches every aspect of our lives, so we are advocates for sustainable farming practices, sourcing locally, treating animals humanely, and reducing food waste.

Responsibilities:
  1. Safely sort, load, transport, and deliver goods to and from warehouses and client locations in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Follow assigned delivery routes, customer notes, and special instructions to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  3. Complete vehicle inspections (pre- and post-trip), and ensure the cab and cargo area are clean, organized, and safe.
  4. Review and verify purchase orders before departure and upon delivery to confirm accuracy.
  5. Pick up and return empty bins, milk bottles, freezer bags, and ice packs from customers.
  6. Provide excellent customer service during every delivery—be the friendly and reliable face of Spud.
  7. Load/unload goods using pallet jacks, carts, and other equipment (training provided as needed).
  8. Report and document any delivery discrepancies, customer concerns, or incidents promptly.
  9. Hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.
  10. Experience driving larger delivery vehicles, such as Mercedes Sprinter vans and 3-ton Hino trucks, is required.
  11. Ability to comfortably drive around Vancouver Island in all types of weather, displaying excellent driving skills.
  12. Must have excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
  13. Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  14. Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in changing schedules and environments.
  15. A self-starter — able to identify and resolve issues without being prompted.
  16. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
  17. Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and lean for extended periods.
  18. Comfortable sitting for long durations while operating delivery vehicles.
  19. Work in varied weather conditions, including cold environments and snow, and assist in vehicle recovery if needed.
  20. Exposure to refrigerated areas and coolers is part of daily operations.
