Job summary

Salt Spring Exchange is hiring a dependable team member for a hybrid role combining in-store customer service, parts orders, local delivery, and inventory support on Salt Spring Island.

You will greet customers, assist with parts inquiries, process orders, and help keep the showroom and warehouse organized. The role requires strong communication, a can-do attitude, and comfort with lifting up to 50 pounds; automotive parts experience is a plus.

• Coordinate daily pickups of cores, returns, and warranty items.
• Maintain accurate delivery/pickup records and required paperwork.

Pay Range: $18.25-$23 per hour, based on experience

The Opportunity

We're looking for a dependable, customer-focused team member to join our team in a hybrid customer service and delivery role. This position combines in-store customer support, parts order preparation, local deliveries and pickups, and inventory assistance. You'll play an important role in creating a positive customer experience, keeping orders moving efficiently, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the store.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers in person and by phone with a positive, welcoming attitude.
• Assist customers with parts inquiries, product selection, sales, returns, and warranty transactions.
• Use PartsWatch, online resources, and paper catalogues to locate parts, access customer accounts, and process invoices and orders.
• Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, management, and support centre personnel.
• Support merchandising, product presentation, signage, inventory management, and promotional initiatives.
• Maintain a professional, helpful approach and work with customers and teammates to find practical solutions.
• Prepare and verify customer orders and invoices to ensure accurate deliveries.
• Deliver and pick up products safely, efficiently, and professionally while building strong customer relationships.
• Inspect merchandise with customers upon delivery and obtain the required delivery confirmation.
• Coordinate daily pickups of customer cores, returns, and warranty items.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records and ensure all required paperwork is completed.
• Keep the delivery vehicle clean and check fluid levels and tire condition regularly.
• Communicate delivery progress, delays, and customer concerns to the dispatcher or store manager.
• Follow all applicable road rules and safe driving practices.
• Receive, unload, label, organize, and put away incoming stock.
• Assist with picking, packing, and preparing orders for delivery or customer pickup.
• Participate in cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe store and warehouse environment.
• Assist with stocking shelves and other store support duties as required.
