Job Description

The Deli Utility Clerk is responsible for ensuring customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to all Company policies, procedures, and standards. The Deli Clerk position reports directly to the Deli Supervisor/Deli Manager, and the main responsibilities include:

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests, and complaints.
  • Performs all aspects of the Deli Utility function including stocking displays and ensuring display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns.
  • Performs general cleanup duties to ensure a neat and organized department.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations.
  • Ensures the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing invoices and proper storage of products.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
  • Adheres to all rules and regulations as set out by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission in stores with liquor licenses.
  • Prepares deli platters and trays, operates roasters, and performs cash handling procedures.
  • Assists with customer service and/or food preparation in locations with a Bistro.

What skills and abilities will you need to be considered?

  • Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Bakery retail or related retail experience.

  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Deli product knowledge/experience.
