Overview:

To ensure the efficient functioning of the deli department, providing customers with the best quality of deli, cheese and pasta products, ensuring courteous, timely customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring exceptional customer service is provided in a courteous manner to maintain our reputation for friendly, effective, and personalized experience.
  2. Directing and supervising all deli staff to secure efficient and courteous customer service.
  3. Ordering deli/cheese and pasta products and supplies.
  4. Responsible for organizing and setting up the department, ensuring proper signage is received, made up and put up correctly.
  5. Ensuring all price changes are processed and “special” items are identified.
  6. Maximizing sales and gross profit, ensuring sales goals and budgets are met.
  7. Organizing any damages and ensuring all returns are taken care of.
  8. Training new employees.
  9. Scheduling all deli clerks ensuring strict control of wage costs.
  10. Interpreting and administering Company policy and ensuring compliance with the union contract.
  11. Ensuring the maintenance of equipment and the safety and sanitation of the department.
  12. Responding to any customer inquiries, requests, and complaints, ensuring courteous customer relations at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess:

  1. Exceptional customer service skills.
  2. A minimum of 2-5 years’ deli experience in a retail grocery environment. Previous management experience is a definite asset.
  3. Flexibility to work a variety of hours including days, evenings, and weekends.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure.
  5. Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
