Job summary

Walmart Canada is seeking a friendly Deli Associate to deliver exceptional customer service while keeping the deli area well stocked, signed, and organized for customers.

You will rotate stock, check expiry dates, follow cold‑chain and safety standards, slice and prepare meats and cheeses, operate slicers and fryers, and assist the front end with price checks. This entry‑level role starts at a hourly rate and provides a busy, supportive retail environment in Cochrane, Alberta.

• Must be 16 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Zones the deli department and maintains the area.
• Rotates stock and checks for expired products.
• Ensures the merchandise is properly signed and priced.
• Adheres to cold chain, thermometer calibrations, temperature recording and food handling standards.
• Takes orders and prepares deli merchandise (meats, cheeses; sliced as requested).
• Assists front-end with price checks.
• Prepares deli items using slicers, stackers, rotisserie oven, and deep fryer; fills salads and side dishes.
• Keeps the area neat, clean, and organized.

What you’ll do…

1. Zones the department.
2. Rotates stock and checking for expired products.
3. Ensures the merchandise is properly signed and priced.
4. Adheres to standards and policies for cold chain compliance, thermometer calibrations, temperature recording, food handling, product rotation, sell-by dates, and expiration dates.
5. Takes orders for Deli Department merchandise; slicing and preparing merchandise, such as meat, cheese, fried chicken; and providing requested assistance.
6. Provides assistance to the front end Associates with price checks.
7. Prepares deli food orders, meat, cheese, and utilizing slicers ,stackers, and other utensils; preparing chicken by using rotisserie oven and deep fryer; and filling prepared salads and side dishes for placement into display area and specialty orders from Customers as required.
8. Keeps the area neat, clean, and organized; free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and liquids.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts from $16.95.
