The City of Edmonton is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented DATS Schedulers to join our Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) Branch within City Operations. As a DATS Scheduler, you will play a vital role in coordinating, scheduling, and assigning trips for the DATS fleet, ensuring efficient and reliable transportation for registrants. This dynamic position requires working within tight deadlines, optimizing resources, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.
What will you do?
- Schedule and integrate all subscription and reservation registrant bookings onto runs, working within constant tight deadlines
- Ensure all runs are scheduled productively and efficiently, optimizing vehicle and operator resources
- Consider individual registrant needs and issues (disability, vehicle restrictions, type of equipment) to ensure appropriate scheduling and sufficient time between pick-ups/drop-offs
- Analyze system reports to maximize trip groupings and ensure optimum use of resources
- Coordinate with Operations Supervisors and Contractors to ensure the availability of Operators and vehicles
- Input vehicle assignment details into the Trapeze system and assign appropriate vehicles to runs/Operators
- Support situation resolution and efficient vehicle exchanges that limit interruption to service
- Check the fleet management system for notifications/flags related to vehicles and take necessary steps to involve affected stakeholders
- Communicate with operators, Operations Supervisors, Ops Techs, and Dispatchers to help troubleshoot on-road issues
- Complete all DATS Operator payroll entries and audits
- Provide information related to DATS services, policies, and procedures
- Directly support the DATS Dispatch team with Dispatch functions as needed
- Support and participate in DATS events and cross-functional teams within DATS
Qualifications- Completion of Grade 12
- Two (2) years of related experience in a Transit or Transportation environment
Assets:
- Familiarity with Trapeze, or other paratransit software applications
- Skilled in the use of computer assisted tools for accurate maintenance of accounts, records, and documentation
Skills required for success:
- Knowledge of systems and databases, preferably within a Transit environment
- Strong knowledge of geographic locations, roadways and traffic patterns
- Ability to solve problems and make quick, independent decisions
- Ability to methodically schedule trips and manage resources according to established service standards
- Ability to work quickly and calmly with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage numerous responsibilities within tight deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Strong communication (written and verbal), customer service, interpersonal and decision making skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multidisciplinary team environment

- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position. There may be a cost associated with this requirement

- Successful candidates will be required to work mornings, weekends and holidays
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance

Hours of Work: 24 hours per week. Monday-Friday.
Salary Range: $31.109 - $38.908 (Hourly); $64,955.590 - $81,239.900 (Annually)
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.
