Applications are invited for the position of Dean, Community Services, Justice and Fitness Studies in the Academic Division, located at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus, with program responsibilities at both Welland and our Daniel J. Patterson campus. The salary range is $159,252 to $199,065 for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, the Dean plays a crucial role in maintaining the standards, integrity, and effectiveness of the academic enterprise, contributing to positive relationships with key external partners, including partners in the community, professional associations, donors, and regulatory and accreditation bodies. The incumbent will provide sound academic and administrative leadership, supervision, and direction to faculty, support and administrative staff within the division, and ensure the effective planning, development, delivery, and ongoing review of all programs and facilities. In addition, the successful candidate will work to ensure that divisional teaching, learning, and service processes support student success.

• Developing and implementing a divisional business/strategic plan with goals, objectives, enrolment and budget targets that are consistent with the college's mission, values, strategic directions and key performance indicator targets
• Leading the development, implementation and review of new and existing academic programs to reflect changing technology, economic and market influences, and employment opportunities
• Monitoring institutional and provincial system data that reflects student success, graduate satisfaction, enrolment and employment trends, and leading changes that anticipate and respond to data
• Working collaboratively with academic administrators to monitor academic progress of students and is responsible for divisional retention and student success strategies
• Ensuring that divisional teaching, learning, service, financial, and strategic processes support student success
• Ensuring student academic issues are managed according to college policy
• Accountable for the efficient use of fiscal, human and physical resources within the division
• Responsible for developing and maintaining networks with business, industry, academia and the community to promote college programs

Qualifications:

• A Masters degree in one of the disciplines within this division, or similar field of study
• Minimum thirteen (13) years of related management, industry and post-secondary teaching experience
• Minimum five (5) years of field-related leadership experience
• Exceptional leadership skills that are action-oriented, decisive, strategic and empowering with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and others within the college
• Strong understanding of curriculum and program development, teaching, coaching for performance in a teaching environment, internationalization, innovation and experience-based education, as well as planning, marketing, and evaluation in an educational setting
• Excellent communication, management, human relations and conflict resolution skills, including providing meaningful feedback related to teaching and performance, and working effectively with a variety of individuals, teams and groups
• Proven experience developing and managing a budget with competing objectives
• Balancing immersive and experiential learning objectives with competing strategic initiatives such as equity, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability
