Job summary

Durham District School Board's Durham Continuing Education seeks an Get SET Instructor for Numeracy Class in Oshawa. Responsibilities include assessing adults, delivering numeracy instruction, and tracking progress in the CaMS EOIS system.

The role follows the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF) and requires familiarity with milestones at 3, 6, and 12 months after intake. In-person classes are currently scheduled.

Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree, preferably in Math or a Math related program.
  • Ontario teacher qualifications preferred. (in good standing)
  • Experience teaching adult literacy and/or numeracy programs, and/or special education an asset.

  • Assess, evaluate, and give feedback for assignments.
  • Administer and evaluate OALCF milestones.
  • Input data into the CaMS EOIS system (database for LBS).
  • Create exit forms for students exiting program.
  • Follow up with students at 3, 6, and 12 months after exit of program.
  • Track learning activities for each student.
  • Keep files up to date with student contact information and examples of student task.
  • Coordinate class field trips.
  • Organize presentations for guest speakers.

Durham Continuing Education is the Durham District School Board's program for its adult daytime program as well as many continuing education programs. While the core business of Continuing Education is funded by the Ministry of Education, partnerships with MLITSD, IRCC, MCI and MCSS support Continuing Education programming.

1.0 LTO - Get SET Instructor for Numeracy Class

Monday-Thursday

8am - 11:30am and 12 noon - 3pm; 6.5 hours per day; This is currently scheduled as an in‑person class but may change at any time or as directed by funders.

Job Summary

Assess and instruct adults on numeracy skills. This is a non-credit program that follows the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF). The instructor will track the learner's achievements, become familiar the CaMS EOIS system and input data in reference to their learners on the CaMS EOIS system. It is also expected that the instructor follows-up with the learners at set milestones (3, 6, and 12 months) after they exit the program.

Major Duties

Technology Used
