Job description

Within OVHcloud, the Business Unit Industry is responsible for designing and delivering server resources and infrastructures, innovating and industrializing best practices. This ensures a competitive and quality level of service while respecting the deadlines agreed with customers.

As a member of the DC Operations team and reporting to the Datacenter Manager, the DC IT Technician ensures the proper functioning of the data center infrastructure by securing the equipment's installation and maintenance, which guarantees the equipment’s continuity of service.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to data center systems architecture and ensure 1st level support
  • Optimize the racks for new servers
  • Connect power and network cables within server and network racks
  • Wire incoming cables and networks within the racks respecting wiring schemes
  • Install / Uninstall servers as required by the DC Team Leader and in accordance with the operational plan
  • Assemble and install computer hardware (assemble / install / upgrade / update servers)
  • Adhere to health and safety rules and regulatory requirements
  • Escalate incident tickets to Level 2 support where appropriate
  • Contribute to data center maintenance
  • Complete interventions on equipment in response to monitoring alerts or customer tickets
  • Upgrade servers (change obsolete components)
  • Undertake corrective maintenance on delivered servers
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using various tools: network, servers
  • Understand and maintain cabling systems
  • Replace failed networking devices within racks
  • Implement actions to solve problems related to the server environment
  • Ensure servers are functioning properly via analysis and monitoring
  • Use the right tools and keep asset databases up to date: stock, assets, status, actions, etc.
  • Assist team members with other relevant maintenance tasks within the data center
  • Coordinate activity with all 24/7 teams and help improve customer relations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the department, meeting the requirements set out in the quality management system
  • Maintain good customer relations and customer satisfaction on a daily basis
  • Ensure information is shared between maintenance agents and provide reports to the Team Leader
  • Respect the schedule and targets set by the Team Leader
