Position Summary
The DC Facilities Lead position supports the operation within the automated $1B company’s 1.8 million square foot Distribution Center (DC).
The DC Facilities Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, service, and minor building repairs and equipment within the distribution center. This role ensures the facility operates efficiently by leading a maintenance crew and conducting preventive and corrective maintenance across various systems, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and material handling equipment.
The DC Facilities Lead ensures safety compliance, collaborates within a team and cross functionally to achieve department and operational goals. It requires flexibility and a desire to problem solve while working in a diverse team environment that prioritizes collaboration, trust, teamwork, and continuous improvement to drive customer satisfaction.

Functional Responsibilities

1. Direct Daily Operations
• Leads and performs general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and welding as required.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on critical systems, including electrical and plumbing, to ensure optimal performance
• Oversee maintenance of material handling equipment, conducting repairs and managing MHE checklist compliance.
• Manage and maintain DC storage rack installations and repairs.
• Ensure proper completion of daily maintenance duties, documenting work orders, parts requests, and job breakdown summaries.

2. Communication and Collaboration
• Serve as a liaison between the facilities maintenance team and management, ensuring effective communication and timely completion of tasks.
• Train and certify operators on material handling equipment, ensuring proper safety and operational standards are followed.
• Collaborate with the Facilities Supervisor to track progress on ongoing projects and maintenance schedules.

3. Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities for process and system improvements within facility maintenance, supporting the enhancement of operational efficiency.
• Lead and participate in the implementation of safety and maintenance best practices to minimize downtime and increase facility reliability.

4. Continuing Education
• Stay up to date with emerging maintenance technologies and safety protocols.
• Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and leadership capabilities.

Education/Qualifications

REQUIRED
o High school diploma or equivalent.
o Forklift certification, including the ability to train and certify others on Material Handling Equipment.
o Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC) and basic troubleshooting.

PREFERRED
o Associate’s degree in a technical field related to facilities maintenance or industrial maintenance.
o Formal certifications or training in electrical or HVAC systems.
o Additional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid, etc.)

Experience

• REQUIRED
o Minimum of 4 years of maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
o Experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, including plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and welding.
o Experience with material handling equipment and conducting preventive maintenance.
o Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
o Experience in using tools such as volt/ohm meters and electrical testing equipment.

PREFERRED
o Experience with advanced troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems in a distribution center or similar environment.
o Previous experience in a leadership role within a high-volume operational or industrial setting.
o Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders and preventive maintenance scheduling.

Work Environment
o Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 60 pounds consistently.
o Ability to stand, bend, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
