POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Promotions & Engagement Team Member
Reports To: Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement / Supervisor, Promotions and Engagement Team
Last Updated: April 2025
Qualifications: A full-time or part-time daytime student at Sheridan College with a GPA of at least 2.5, and not undergoing a co-op term between the months of September to April.
Term: May 5 2025 – July 31 2025 with possibility to extend into the Fall/Winter term
Location: Home Campus (In-person)
Commitments: 10-12 hours a week
Pay Rate: $17.46/hour

SCOPE AND NATURE

Sheridan Student Union Inc. (SSUI) is a student-led organization representing all full-time and day part-time fee-paying students at Sheridan College. Our mission is to create an exceptional student experience through student-focused programs, services, and advocacy. Our vision is to empower our student community to succeed in a changing world. The Promotions & Engagement Team Member is responsible for enriching the student experience beyond academics to enhance the #SheridanLife for their fellow Sheridan students. Promotions and Engagement Team Members connect and engage with Sheridan students in-person and execute assigned promotional campaigns to ensure that Sheridan students receive information about SSU events, clubs, and services.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Promotions & Engagement Team Member will work closely with other team members, The Promotions & Engagement Team Supervisor, and Social Media & Community Engagement Manager to brainstorm and execute SSU promotional activities.

The Promotions & Engagement Team Member will be expected to work in a respectful manner with all SSU staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff, and Sheridan College students.

PROMOTIONS & ENGAGEMENT TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promoting all SSU related events & services to the Sheridan community.
  • Distributing & communicating with students regarding SSU services, events, operations, student leader initiatives, etc.
  • Collaborating with different departments within the SSU to facilitate the promotion of events, services, clubs, governance, and organizational initiatives.
  • Assisting the Marketing Department in developing and executing promotional campaigns. This will be done in-person at each respective home campus.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of SSU poster boards around campus, including the posting and removal of all posters on a weekly basis.
  • As directed by management, attending certain SSU day/or night events to engage students.
  • Representing the students at Sheridan College in all matters as required and reporting as necessary.
  • Acting in such a manner that reflects the professional values and expectations of the SSUI, as well as operating in accordance with the Values and Mission as well as the by-laws and policies of SSUI.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Approachable, friendly, and comfortable interacting in group settings.
  • Strong organizational & time management skills.
  • Comfortable interacting and appearing on SSU social channels, as a representative of the SSU when the opportunity arises.
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team and can take instruction.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Knowledgeable about all things SSU and passionate about the student community.
