Job summary

Astra-North Infoteck Inc. in Toronto, ON, invites an experienced Datastage Developer to join our hybrid team for a 6-12 month contract. The role focuses on building robust ETL pipelines, writing complex SQL, and scripting in Unix to support data integration initiatives.

You will design, implement and review data processing solutions, participate in SDLC activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery and timely project execution.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in complex, time-sensitive development environments.
• Extensive hands-on ETL with DataStage.
• Extensive hands-on SQL experience (MS SQL Server, Teradata).
• Experience creating stored procedures and Unix shell scripting.
• Support at-scale testing, UAT and reporting.
• Knowledge of the SDLC – Agile, Waterfall, Iterative.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data pipelines.
• Create and review technical design documents and facilitate meetings.
• Participate in walkthrough reviews of specifications, programs, code, and unit test plans.
• Plan design/implementation activities and drive technical platform evolution.
• Present technical topics at team meetings and manage work packages.

• Ensure ETL pipelines meet quality, metadata, and completeness standards.
• Collaborate with development teams to promote best practices.
• Provide third-level support for various technologies.

Job Description: Datastage Developer

Toronto, ON - Hybrid (4 Days WFO)

6-12 months

What will you do?

• Strong experience in design and implement data pipelines
• Strong PL/SQL and SQL skills in relational database environment
• Strong Unix shell scripting skills
• Create and review technical design documents, understand how the design will be used in the code development process, and facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and execute projects
• Participate in walkthrough reviews of technical specifications, programs, code, and unit test plans
• Plan design/implementation activities, ensure technical solution quality, provide third-level support for various technologies, and drive technical platform evolution and improvements
• Present technical topics at regular team meetings and manage low-level planning of work packages
• Estimate activities/tasks required to perform design, coding, and unit testing
• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ensure ETL pipelines are produced with the highest quality standards, metadata and validated for completeness and accuracy
• Work closely with development teams to learn about needs, current processes and to promote best practices.
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - Agile, Waterfall, and Iterative methods
• Working knowledge GitHub, CI/CD Pipeline

Must Have:

• 8+ years of experience working in complex and time-sensitive development environment
