Job description

Overview

Lead Technician, under the guidance of the Supervisor and Project Manager, will manage all phases of Datacenter installation projects. The Lead Technician must be able to think strategically and demonstrate leadership. They will assume full ownership from receipt of the completed engineering work package to project completion and final documentation. The Lead Technician must exhibit excellent customer service skills and ensure projects meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  3. Good organizational, written, and verbal skills, with meticulous documentation.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, customer-oriented, helpful attitude.

  6. Strong work ethic and flexible work schedule.

The Lead Technician is responsible for:

  1. Job layout and execution planning.
  2. Staying current with latest technologies and installation procedures.
  3. Understanding the scope of work.
  4. Completing all project paperwork accurately.
  5. Running small to large projects when required.
  6. Maintaining quality installation craftsmanship and customer service standards.
  7. Installing and terminating copper and fiber products per TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.
  8. Testing and troubleshooting copper and fiber cable systems per standards.
  9. Directing team in assembling and installing cable trays, racks, and cabinets.
  10. Understanding grounding and bonding principles and properly bonding cable trays and racks.
  11. Operating Vision’s Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6 testers, fiber power meters, and OTDRs correctly, saving, downloading, and interpreting test results.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • BICSI and industry certifications preferred; knowledge of fiber troubleshooting needed.
  • Must be able to drive company vehicle.
  • Background check and drug screening required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Certifications:

  • Preferred: BICSI Installer 2, industry manufacturer certifications, OSHA safety certification (10/30), HILTI powder actuated tools, Confined Space.
