Position: Databricks Solution Architect

BIG is seeking a Databricks Solution Architect to join our Delivery team. As a Databricks SA, you will provide high-level architectural direction, address sophisticated technical challenges, and play a key role as a pre-sales engineering resource. You will partner with our customers to design scalable data architectures using Databricks technology and services. You have technical depth and business knowledge and can drive complex technology discussions to demonstrate the value of the Databricks platform throughout the sales lifecycle. You will engage with our customers' technical leads, including architects and developers, to establish yourself as a trusted advisor and achieve tangible outcomes.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the end-to-end architecture of solutions centered around the Databricks Lakehouse Architecture, including its assembly and integration into the overall data architecture for our customers.
2. Define platform architecture documentation, design data pipelines, estimate work effort, and perform sophisticated development.
3. Implement technical solutions for enterprise systems and build trust with customers regarding Databricks' ability to meet their business requirements.
4. Collaborate with Sales and other partners to support account strategies and act as a senior pre-sales engineer to help customers expand their usage of the Databricks platform.
5. Build demo applications for prospects to illustrate how Databricks can be used to achieve their goals, land new users, and explore use cases.
6. Support the development of AI and GenAI solutions by working with Data Scientists and ML Developers.
7. Stay updated on all developments in the Databricks platform to provide the latest advice to customers.
8. Guide on suitable frameworks, platforms, or technical stacks to devise solutions.
9. Manage and mitigate technical risks to ensure solutions are deliverable by the underlying technology components.
10. Conduct in-depth Databricks-specific code reviews to optimize resource utilization.
11. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Databricks products through technical feedback and updates.
12. Document implementations clearly for easy understanding by others.
13. Mentor others on advanced Databricks technical capabilities.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. 5+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role with expertise in at least one of the following technologies:
   • Big data engineering (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
   • Data Warehousing & ETL (e.g., SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS)
   • Data Science and Machine Learning (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, HPO)
   • Data Applications (e.g., Logs Analysis, Threat Detection, Real-time Systems Monitoring, Risk Analysis)
2. At least 3 years of direct experience with Databricks.
3. At least one professional-level Databricks certification.
4. Experience translating customer business needs into technology solutions and establishing stakeholder buy-in.
5. Proficient in designing, architecting, and presenting data systems and managing their delivery.
6. Fluent in SQL and database technologies.
7. Development experience in Python, Scala, Java, or R.
8. Working knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
9. A degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research) is highly desirable.
10. Excellent communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
11. Strong problem-solving skills focused on customer-centric solutions.
12. Effective project management skills with attention to deadlines and quality.
