Job summary

Fluent, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build data products for Audience Solutions. You will implement pipelines in Databricks, delivering syndicated and custom segments for data marketplaces and clients.

You will work with Data Engineering and Data Science partners to translate business requirements into robust data solutions, leveraging Python, SQL, and Spark with privacy-first practices. Remote in US/Canada with occasional NYC travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 4+ years of industry experience in Data Engineering, including SQL, Python, Spark, and distributed processing.
• Experience using Databricks environment leveraging Data Engineering and Data Warehousing features such as Jobs & Workflows, Notebooks, Unity Catalog, and Delta Lake.
• Experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as part of a modern engineering workflow.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Databricks Genie, Lakebase, AI/BI Dashboards, Databricks Apps.
• Nice to have: prior experience in digital marketing, ad-tech, or related field and familiarity with audience/data marketplaces.

Responsibilities

• Majority of the role will be data engineering: create and manage tables, views, jobs/pipelines, and orchestrations in Databricks.
• Build and maintain pipelines for syndicated and custom audience segments (declared and modeled).
• Support delivery and performance reporting to LiveRamp, TruAudience, and Lotame.
• Explore Databricks features like Spark Structured Streaming and Lakehouse Declarative Pipelines.
• Maintain code quality, observability, and data privacy compliance.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Science, and commercial teams to translate requirements.
• Stay current with Databricks ecosystem trends.
• Share knowledge through brown bags and tech talks.
• Communicate architecture, execution plans, releases, and training to internal teams.
