Job summary

Fluent, Inc is hiring a Data Engineer to build and operate data pipelines that power audience solutions across syndicated and custom segments. You will translate business requirements into scalable Databricks-based data products, collaborating with Data Science and commercial teams.

The role emphasizes strong Python/SQL/Spark skills, experience with Unity Catalog and Delta Lake, and a passion for data quality, observability, and privacy compliance in a remote NA environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 4+ years of industry experience in Data Engineering with SQL, Python, Spark.
• 2+ years with Databricks including Jobs, Workflows, Notebooks, Unity Catalog, and Delta Lake.
• Strong foundation in database design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
• Nice to have: familiarity with Databricks Genie, Lakebase, AI/BI Dashboards, Databricks Apps.
• Nice to have: prior experience in digital marketing or ad-tech, audience data, or data marketplaces (LiveRamp, TransUnion, Lotame).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain pipelines that create syndicated and custom audience segments.
• Develop data products translating survey and behavioral signals into declared and modeled audiences.
• Ensure data observability and metadata standards across pipelines and datasets.
• Leverage Databricks for real-time processing and batch workloads with Spark Structured Streaming.
• Collaborate with Data Science and commercial teams to translate business requests into technical specs.
• Share knowledge through brown bags, talks, and architecture reviews.
• Uphold data privacy standards in handling consumer data.
