Job description

Description : Responsibilities

  • The Contractor’s resources may be required, but are not limited to, performing the following:
  • Provide database support and database administration tasks on projects and operations, configure and optimize Oracle 12c infrastructure,
  • Perform necessary optimizations to the database environment, investigate and resolve database performance problems,
  • Provide support to service providers and developers on projects and operations, perform database security administration and support,
  • Administer databases and database servers in multiple environments,
  • Establish and document database processes and procedures that are approved,
  • Design, implement, and configure backup and recovery strategies for all environments, monitor Oracle licensing requirements with the support agreement,
  • Liaise with Shared Service Canada regarding server environments and various Requests for Change (RFCs),
  • Provide guidance, advice, and recommendations on any database-related initiatives to service providers, provide recommendations to the Technical Authority and Senior Management on the way forward for GAC applications using Oracle databases,
  • Provide status updates to the Technical Authority,
  • Analyze the possibilities of upgrading to a more recent version of Oracle (e.g., Oracle 19c), potentially upgrade to a more recent version,
  • Knowledge transfer to existing staff.

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate that the proposed resource holds a current, valid Government of Canada (SECRET) or higher security clearance at the date and time of the RFP bid closing.
  • The following information must be provided by the bidder for each proposed resource:
  • Name of the individual as it appears on the security clearance application form.
  • Level of security clearance obtained.
  • Validity period of security clearance obtained.
  • Security Screening Certificate and Briefing Form file number.
  • Name of the entity under which the security clearance was obtained.
  • Must demonstrate that the proposed resource has ten (10) years of experience as a Database Administrator using Oracle v10g & above, including installing, configuring, tuning, troubleshooting, and upgrading Oracle RDBMS.
  • Must demonstrate that the proposed resource has two (2) years of experience as a Database Administrator using Oracle 12c & above, including installing, configuring, tuning, troubleshooting, and upgrading Oracle RDBMS.
  • Must demonstrate that the proposed resource has two (2) years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Oracle Cloud Control 12c or above.
  • Must demonstrate that the proposed resource has two (2) years of experience applying performance monitoring and tuning techniques using Oracle Cloud Control 12c or above.
  • Must demonstrate that the proposed resource has two (2) years of experience as a Database Administrator using Microsoft SQL Server, including installing, configuring, tuning, troubleshooting, and upgrading MS RDBMS.
  • Must provide at least two (2) recent references (within the past five (5) years) and related projects that can validate the knowledge and experience of the proposed resource. Information must include organization, contact name, contact telephone number, e-mail address, description of the projects, and the date and duration of the contract.
  • Must currently hold a valid Secret Government of Canada clearance.
