NTT DATA North America is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to ensure the continuous operation of Oracle and SQL Server environments in Tiverton, Ontario. The role emphasizes production support, backup/recovery, DR planning, and security across multiple database platforms, including cloud services.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of enterprise DBA experience, strong performance tuning skills, and a track record of maintaining high availability in 24x7 environments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience as a Database Administrator supporting enterprise‑scale production environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience administering Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, patching and upgrades.
  • 10+ years of experience with database backup/recovery, replication, clustering, and high‑availability solutions.
  • Proven expertise in SQL query tuning, performance troubleshooting, and database optimization.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting mission‑critical applications in 24x7 production environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud database technologies (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud, etc.) is an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience with database monitoring and administration tools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident management, change management, and release management.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and documentation skills.
  • Preferred to have Level 1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer production, QA, and development database environments ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and capacity planning to improve system efficiency.
  • Perform Oracle RMAN and SQL Server backup/recovery operations and regularly validate restoration procedures.
  • Manage Oracle and SQL Server security, user access, roles, and database permissions.
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor database health, storage utilization, replication, and system performance using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, patching, and maintenance activities with minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, performance bottlenecks, and data integrity issues within defined SLAs.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to support releases and system enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain database standards, documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
  • Support compliance, audit, security, and access management requirements across database platforms.
  • Participate in on‑call support and provide proactive recommendations for continuous service improvement.

We are currently seeking a Database Administrator Senior Specialist to join our team in Tiverton, Ontario (CA-ON), Canada (CA).

Job Description

A professional Database Administrator (DBA) will keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Minimum 10 years of progressive database administration experience, including production support, performance tuning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, and database maintenance activities.

Location and Compensation

Tiverton, Ontario (CA-ON), Canada (CA). The starting pay range for this role is $60.12 to $70.45 per hour. This position is eligible for NTT DATA’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Discount Perks.
