IT Recruitment Expert Supporting the Broader Public Sector
Our client, a leading automotive parts retailer, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Warehouse & BI Developer to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial for their digital transformation journey, focusing on driving value through data and business insights to enhance customer experiences.
This position is based at the client's head office in Port Coquitlam, BC, and requires on-site work 5 days per week. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain various technical solutions.
- Oversee the completion of data warehouse solutions to support business intelligence and reporting requirements.
- Develop ETL processes from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Optimize and tune SQL queries for improved performance and efficiency.
- Implement data quality and governance processes to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide actionable insights for various business partners that will drive retail strategies and contribute to the company’s continued success.
- Produce interactive and visually compelling reports and dashboards using Power BI, creating intelligent insights that convey meaning.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into scalable and efficient data models.
- Play a crucial role in laying a data structure foundation that will enable long-term future success.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the alignment of data architecture and reporting solutions with business goals.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in data warehousing, business intelligence, and data visualization technologies.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining data warehouses
- Hands-on expertise with relational databases (SQL, Oracle, Redshift, etc.)
- Expertise in designing and optimizing data warehouse architectures and data models.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend).
- Proficiency in data visualization using Power BI.
- Thorough familiarity of the Azure cloud platform and OneLake/DataLake storage architecture.
- Retail experience (large-sized retailers) or similarly complex system environments (e.g., POS, supply chain, high transaction volume)
- Strong understanding of the importance of uptime and data availability
- Proven ability to communicate across departments and build relationships
- Positive, collaborative personality; someone who is team-oriented and easy to work with
- A mindset for long-term growth with the company
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with POS systems and supply chain processes
- Experience with medallion architecture or similar layered data strategies
- Background in ERP systems
