Overview

What You Will Do

1. Lead the development and support of modern visualization tools, emphasizing the Microsoft stack and a broad understanding of development practices.
2. Collaborate on innovative projects to design and implement advanced visualization tools, dashboards, and Proof of Concepts (POCs) that leverage modern data streams such as Event Hubs, Kafka, Data Bricks, and Azure Data Synapse.
3. Demonstrate strong expertise in the analysis, design, and implementation of visualization and reporting applications, particularly utilizing Power BI and Tableau, while integrating data from non-traditional sources.
4. Gather and define requirements to create web-based reports and dashboards that meet user needs, ensuring the incorporation of modern data streams rather than traditional SQL-based databases.
5. Oversee the successful execution of multiple projects, ensuring thorough documentation and conducting appropriate testing throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
6. Develop and maintain comprehensive codebases, technical documentation, and associated files to support ongoing development efforts, with a focus on modern data integration.
7. Create effective project plans and accurately estimate efforts for a diverse range of visualization projects, considering varying levels of complexity and the integration of modern data tools.
8. Provide technical support for visualization tools to business functions, addressing and resolving complex issues as they arise, particularly those related to modern data streams.
9. Translate business requirements into intuitive dashboard solutions, ensuring a clear understanding of how customer needs are met through effective visualization of data from modern sources.
10. Conduct strategic data analysis to identify insights and implications, making informed recommendations and developing data displays that effectively communicate complex analyses derived from modern data streams.
11. Organize and facilitate data review sessions with stakeholders, ensuring that all process details are accurately captured and validated by business subject matter experts (SMEs).
12. Support automation developers by clarifying automation requirements and assisting in the creation of necessary environments and permission configurations, particularly in the context of modern data tools.
13. Engage in pre-deployment and post-deployment activities, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions, Go/No-Go meetings, and hyper-care support calls, ensuring alignment with modern development practices.
14. Assist in resolving operational issues, including troubleshooting production support challenges and documenting change request details, with a focus on modern data integration and visualization tools.

7. Extensive Experience in Visualization Tools: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience with leading visualization tools, including Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and other modern data visualization platforms.
8. Cloud Data Asset Management: Strong experience working with cloud-based data solutions such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, CosmosDB, AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes, ensuring effective data integration and management.
9. Proficiency in Data Integration Tools: Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Power BI Dataflows, and Power Query for seamless data transformation and integration.
10. Strong Programming and Data Query Skills: Proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML, and Python, as well as data query languages including SQL, DAX, T-SQL, GraphQL, PromQL, and KQL, with the ability to write complex queries and optimize data retrieval processes.
11. Data Validation Expertise: Experience in data validation processes, including the creation of test plans, test cases, and execution of test cycles to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
12. Experience with Collaboration Tools: Proficient in using tools such as Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams to facilitate project management and team collaboration.
13. Understanding of Open-Source Technologies: Awareness of open-source data tools and frameworks, such as Apache Kafka and Apache Spark, to leverage modern data processing capabilities.
14. Adaptability to Industry Trends: Keen understanding of emerging trends in data visualization and analytics, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and future-proofing solutions.

This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders while at KPMG.

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $128,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
