What will you do?
- Use data visualization tools such as Tableau, ArcGIS and Google Looker Studio to enhance business understanding through engaging, simple, and concise data storytelling
- Present data and analysis in a clear and concrete manner that allows the audience to quickly understand the results so they can make data-driven decisions
- Drive application lifecycle management to support data-driven decision making including application design, development, enhancements, maintenance, support, and planning
- Lead portfolio projects and actively encourage teamwork within the Section
- Help deliver conceptual and technical data analytics training, requiring the interpretation of information and specialized content advice
- Maintain an awareness of best practices within the data analytics and data visualization profession
- Explain difficult concepts and persuade diverse business areas to adopt a data-driven point of view
- Determine core work priorities and self manage major accountabilities under broad direction with a good understanding of the Section's strategic direction
- Other related responsibilities
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business, Information Technology, Finance, Marketing, Arts, Fine Arts Communication
- A minimum of five (5) years directly related working experience is required
Skills required for success:
- Proven experience with data visualization techniques coupled with spatial data experience (i.e. GIS)
- Experience advancing financial analysis, performance measurement and business analysis best practices with work units across a wide range of disciplines
- Demonstrated experience providing 'analytic translation' - providing a clear and inspiring approach to extract meaning from analytics using data, visuals and narrative
- Experience acting as a resource to staff members for advice and guidance on potential approaches and problem situations
- Skilled at analyzing data, deriving insights and building creative output in order to turn complex challenges into easy to understand formats
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to interact with clients, staff, management and senior executives to resolve complex challenges through visualization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, presenting and storytelling
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- Strong knowledge of and experience with a variety of presentation, graphic design applications, and tools
Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
