Job summary

Shakepay is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join a cross-functional team and help identify growth opportunities across the company. You will work with engineering, design, marketing, finance, and operations to enable data-driven decisions and measurable impact.

The role emphasizes experimentation, KPI design, and leveraging statistical methods to understand user behavior at scale, with autonomy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data science, growth analytics, experimentation, or related roles in high-growth environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Deep understanding of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, forecasting, and KPI design.
• Strong product and business intuition, with ability to connect user behavior to business outcomes.
• Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, finance, operations, or product.
• Comfortable operating autonomously and driving ambiguous projects from idea to execution.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence decisions through data and clear reasoning.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
• Curiosity, speed, and bias toward action in rapidly evolving environments.
• Solid understanding of dashboard and data visualization tools.
• Willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with engineers and designers on our product teams to improve acquisition, activation, retention, monetization, and customer experience
• Collaborate with marketing, finance, and operations teams to discover growth opportunities and make better business decisions
• Support and champion experimentation and decision-making frameworks that help us launch products and iterate quickly with confidence
• Define KPIs (key performance indicators) and success metrics that help teams stay aligned on measurable outcomes
• Use statistical analysis, forecasting, causal inference, and machine learning techniques to better understand user behavior and company performance
• Proactively identify high-impact opportunities through deep analysis of user journeys, lifecycle behavior, conversion funnels, and financial performance
• Contribute to shaping team and company priorities by bringing data-driven perspectives on impact, trade-offs, and return on investment
• Create dashboards, models, and self-service tools that improve visibility of growth and business performance across the organization
• Collaborate with the broader data team to maintain a shared and consistent data layer that serves our stakeholders and internal teams

The Role

We are seeking an experienced data scientist to join one of our cross-functional teams at Shakepay. You will work closely with engineering and design, while building partnerships with marketing, finance, and operations teams to help us identify growth opportunities and make more informed decisions across the company.

• Existing Shakepay customer and/or familiarity with the product

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 CAD. Base salary may vary based on factors such as years of experience, skills, and qualifications. Additionally, employees are eligible for stock options, performance-based salary increases, benefits including health and dental care, and paid time off.
