The Opportunity

At 4AG Robotics, we build robots that harvest mushrooms, and we’re growing fast. Our systems generate a huge amount of performance and time-series data, and we’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our Software Team to help us make sense of it all. You’ll work closely with our cloud and on-prem data infrastructure to analyze trends and uncover insights that help improve robot performance in the field. If you love solving complex data problems, working with a high-ownership team, and want to have a direct impact on real-world automation, this is your kind of role.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze performance and operational data from our deployed robots to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Work directly within our C++/SQL-based stack to extract and analyze system data (this isn’t a dev-heavy role, but experience navigating code and databases is key).
• Collaborate with software developers, roboticists, and hardware engineers to translate insights into product and system improvements.
• Build tools, queries, and visualizations to support internal analysis and decision-making.
• Help maintain and optimize data access pipelines across both cloud and on-prem systems.
• Present findings in a way that’s digestible to cross-functional teams, from engineering to field operations.

• You’ve uncovered data-driven insights that led to measurable improvements in robot reliability, efficiency, or uptime.
• You’re the go-to person for understanding performance patterns across our deployed fleet.
• Your tools and analysis are helping the Software Team (and beyond) make faster, smarter decisions.
• You’re proactively working with the team to identify new areas where data can drive product improvements.
• You’ve built confidence in the data, and how we use it.

What You Bring

• Solid experience working with large, complex datasets in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency with SQL and an understanding of how to navigate and interpret C++-based data systems.
• Experience with performance, time-series, or sensor data — especially in embedded or robotics systems.
• Comfort working with both on-prem and cloud storage systems.
• Strong communication skills — you can explain technical findings clearly and collaborate well across disciplines.
• Bonus points if you’ve built custom analytics tools or pipelines that others rely on.
