Job summary

Homebase is seeking a Manager of Data Science to lead a growing team shaping how data powers product, platform, and people. You will mentor data scientists and partner with platform engineering to move models from proof-of-concept to production, influencing scheduling, payroll, pricing, and personalization.

The role emphasizes experimentation, ownership, and collaboration across Engineering, Product, and Design in a hybrid, AI-first environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or AI product development.
• 2+ years in a people leadership role, mentoring data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of data scientists; mentor them to think like product and business owners.
• Support end-to-end delivery of models powering product features and internal systems.
• Champion experimentation: design A/B and multivariate tests to move faster and make better decisions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design to embed data and AI into user experiences from day one.
• Serve as a trusted thought partner to cross-functional leaders, product managers, and executives.

• This role is ideal for someone who wants to shape the future of applied AI at scale—leading everything from intelligent scheduling and hiring models to supporting internal sales and marketing decisions
• Commitment to driving outcomes in a hybrid, AI-first environment where speed and ownership matter
• 2+ years in a people leadership role, mentoring and growing data scientists
• Proven track record of shipping ML models into production
• 6+ years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or AI product development
• Strong background in machine learning (optimization, traditional ML, or frontier models)
