The Opportunity

We are seeking a Data Science Developer for a 12-month term to join our Data Analytics team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Advanced Analytics, the successful candidate will leverage their analytics experience and communication skills for developing and maintaining data pipelines, designing scalable data architectures, and ensuring quality through testing and validation processes. Based in our Calgary office, this role offers a unique opportunity to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Management
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.
  • Design and implement scalable data architectures to support analytics and machine learning initiatives.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation processes.
Data Analysis & Modeling
  • Identify, collect, and transform large datasets into actionable insights using statistical techniques, machine learning models, and predictive analytics.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.
Solution Development & Deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy solutions and automate processes where possible.
Business Collaboration
  • Build dashboards, visualizations, interfaces, and reports that effectively communicate complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery and adoption of new and existing tools and workflows.
Collaboration & Best Practices
  • Work within an agile framework to rapidly prototype, test, and refine solutions.
  • Promote best practices in data science, including code quality, version control, MLOps, and collaboration tools.
  • Stay current with the latest analytics, AI/ML, and data engineering trends to continually improve data science capabilities at ARC.
What You Will Bring To ARC

Working with cutting-edge infrastructure and tools such as Databricks, Github Copilot, Azure IoT, and others, you will solve challenging business problems requiring advanced data science applications across Engineering, Drilling, Geosciences, Marketing, and Environmental sectors. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with large datasets to develop data-driven solutions; oil and gas industry experience is an asset.
  • Proven expertise in developing and optimizing data pipelines for efficient data flow and system integration.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Spark, Docker, SQL, and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver tangible business value.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with big data technologies, data pipelines, and real-time/batch processing frameworks (e.g., Databricks) is an asset.
