Profile

The Data Platform Analyst is a hybrid role combining responsibilities of both a Data Engineer and a Data Analyst. This position is crucial for supporting and maintaining our analytics platform and ensuring seamless data integration from existing systems to De Havilland’s data lake. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, analytical prowess, and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Analytics Platform Support:
  • Support, maintain and optimize the analytics platform to ensure reliability, high performance and availability.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the platform meets business needs.
ETL Development:
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines to extract data from various sources, transform it, and load it into the data lake.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the ETL process.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for ETL processes and data flows.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, addressing any issues promptly to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Optimize and tune ETL processes for efficiency and performance.
Data Analysis:
  • Perform data analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and analytics.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders to build and deliver a data platform roadmap that enables efficient and effective business operations, responsive to the business vision, goals, and overall strategy of the organization.
  • Communicate decisions, priorities, and relevant project information to/from leadership as it pertains to De Havilland’s data platform.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Enterprise Application Services & Strategy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or a similar role.
Skills
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with ETL tools and processes.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, specifically Microsoft-based architectures (i.e. Synapse, Fabric, etc.), and data lake architectures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
  • Experience with machine learning and statistical analysis.
