Job Title : Data Modeler

Location : Toronto (Hybrid with 2-3 days on-site – Local candidates preferred)

Duration : 6 months (with potential extension)

Work hours per week : 37.5

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to join a high-impact data transformation initiative in the banking sector. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data modeling, particularly using Erwin DataModeler, and will work closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to design robust data models and support advanced analytics.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead the design and development of data models (conceptual, logical, physical) for large-scale data transformation programs.
• Build and optimize data models using Erwin and other modeling tools.
• Design the L2 Layer for enterprise-level data solutions.
• Work with OLAP cubes and large-scale data analytics using Kyvos, including writing complex MDX queries for dashboards and reporting.
• Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to define fact/dimension relationships and schema models.
• Implement performance tuning strategies such as aggregation, partitioning, and optimization for BI workloads.
• Ensure data model alignment with AWS, Redshift, and big data platforms.
• Present data models and solutions effectively to senior stakeholders and business users.

Required Skills :

• Proven experience in data modeling with tools like Erwin DataModeler, SAP PowerDesigner, or Microsoft Visio.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, data architecture, and SQL.
• Experience working with large data sets, enterprise data, and big data environments.
• Prior experience as a Lead Data Modeler on major transformation programs.
• Banking industry experience is required.
• Strong familiarity with AWS, Redshift, and cloud-based data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kyvos for OLAP cube design and MDX query writing.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have :

• Experience with financial data and tools like Anaplan.
• Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence best practices.
