Netlight is hiring a Data Engineering Consultant to join our new Toronto team. You will partner with industry-leading clients to design and deliver robust data platforms and end-to-end data pipelines, embedding AI-powered capabilities as you work.

You’ll operate in a collaborative, ambitious, and globally connected environment with mentorship and coaching, building solutions across streaming, batch, warehousing, and analytics domains.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of experience in software engineering after graduation.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Based in Toronto; 100% in-person role.
• Legally eligible to work in Ontario, Canada.
• Curiosity about multiple industries and technologies.
• Tech-agnostic mindset with proficiency in listed tools and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable data platforms and pipelines with data scientists and analytics teams.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of data solutions from architecture to deployment and monitoring.

As a Data Engineering Consultant at Netlight, you will join a collaborative, ambitious, and mutually supportive environment where you define your own journey. The role has a lot in common with a forward deployed engineer position: you’ll be embedded directly with client teams, building and shipping solutions on the ground to solve their most pressing problems.

A Day in the Life at Netlight

• Design and build robust, scalable data platforms and pipelines in close collaboration with data scientists, analytics teams, and business stakeholders.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data solutions, from architecture and pipeline development to testing, deployment, orchestration, and monitoring.
• Develop high-quality, scalable solutions for complex data challenges across streaming and batch processing, data warehousing, lake architectures, and analytics enablement.
• Use and build with AI day-to-day - from AI-assisted coding to designing and shipping AI-powered features - to move faster and deliver more value to clients.

Qualifications we are looking for

• 1-4 years of experience in software engineering after graduation.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Based in Toronto; this is a 100% in-person role.
• Legally eligible to work in Ontario, Canada.
• Curiosity about multiple industries and technologies.
• Tech agnostic mindset with proficiency and experience in some of the following: Python, Databricks, PySpark or Spark, SQL, Airflow, Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Proficiency with using and building with AI: comfortable working with AI coding assistants/agents, and experience integrating AI or LLM capabilities into products.

Compensation and benefits

• Transparent salary development throughout your career with semi-annual compensation reviews
• For this role, candidates can expect a starting base salary of CA$95,000 – CA$109,000. Total starting compensation ranges from CA$95,000 – CA$125,000, consisting of base salary and variable salary. Actual compensation is determined based on skills, experience, and role level.
• Variable salary is our version of a bonus program and, it is paid out bi-weekly together with your base salary. The amount is based in part on your seniority and on the group performance of Netlight
• 20 paid vacation days prorated per calendar year
• 10 paid Care Days (sick/personal days) per year with unlimited additional unpaid sick days
• Extended Health Benefits and Dental Care including an additional CA$1,000 HSA and CA$500 Wellness Account (taxable)
