Data Engineer - VIE Contract

• Location: Canada, Toronto
• Target start date: 01/09/2025

iMove, the Sanofi VIE Program, is available to citizens of the European Economic Area (EU + Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland) aged between 18 and 28.

Main responsibilities

• Propose and establish technical designs to meet business and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain data engineering solutions based on requirements and design specifications using appropriate tools and technologies.
• Create data pipelines / ETL pipelines and optimize their performance.
• Test and validate developed solutions to ensure they meet requirements.
• Create design and development documentation for knowledge transfer, training, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with business and product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical needs.
• Adhere to and promote best practices and standards for code management, automated testing, and deployment.
• Leverage existing or create new standard data pipelines within Sanofi to add value through business use cases.
• Develop automated tests for CI/CD pipelines.
• Gather and analyze large and complex data assets.
• Conduct peer reviews for quality, consistency, and rigor in production solutions.
• Contribute actively to the Data Engineering community and define best practices and frameworks.
• Communicate results and findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Stay updated on company standards, industry practices, and emerging technologies.

About you

Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, BI, analytics, or a related role with relevant technologies such as Spark/Scala, Informatica/IICS/Dbt.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and Shell scripting.
• Experience with data models and query tuning.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Snowflake) and orchestration tools (Airflow) is a plus.

Education:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Technical and soft skills:

• Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Keen eye for improvement opportunities while maintaining data quality, security, and governance standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Languages:

• English proficiency.
