Job summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale data platforms for Capital Markets. You will own data pipelines, cloud data warehouses, and ETL/ELT solutions to support trading, risk, and regulatory reporting.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in data engineering, deep Snowflake proficiency, and strong SQL development. Collaboration with traders, risk teams, and analysts is essential in a fast-paced, global financial technology environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/Engineering/IS or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related roles.
  • Strong Capital Markets domain knowledge and understanding of market data, trading systems, risk, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience in Agile delivery environments.
  • Expert-level SQL development and complex joins, analytic/window functions, and performance tuning.
  • Experience designing and implementing Data Warehouse solutions with dimensional modelling, star/Snowflake schemas, and data integration.
  • Hands-on Snowflake development and administration, including Snowpipe/Streams/Tasks/Time Travel/Cloning.
  • Proficiency in Python/PySpark for data ingestion and transformation; API integration and data-quality frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data engineering solutions and data pipelines.
  • Build and optimize Data Warehouse solutions using Snowflake.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformation logic.
  • Create and support ETL/ELT frameworks for large volumes of financial data.
  • Collaborate with analysts, traders, risk teams, and data consumers to define data requirements.
  • Design data models supporting reporting, analytics, and regulatory needs.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security across the data ecosystem.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimize database and warehouse performance.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and promote best practices for cloud adoption.
  • Support production deployments and ongoing enhancements to data platforms.
  • Create technical documentation, data lineage, and operational support procedures.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $120k – CAD $125k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, governance, and security across the data ecosystem.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimise database and warehouse performance.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and recommend best practices for data engineering and cloud adoption.
  • Support production deployments and manage ongoing enhancements to data platforms.

Requirements:
