Job summary

Infotek Consulting Inc. in Toronto is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support development and expansion of enterprise data products within a Snowflake-based environment. You will contribute to data platform strategy, engineering standards, cloud technologies, and scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering or technology environments with enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience developing data platforms, applications, and pipelines using cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of modern data engineering, analytics architectures, databases, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • 2+ years in Asset Management, Capital Markets, Investment Management, or similar financial services environment.
  • Strong Snowflake experience and modern data warehouse knowledge.
  • Hands-on ETL development with Informatica/PowerCenter, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and database performance optimization.
  • Experience designing and supporting data ingestion and transformation workflows.
  • Strong programming capabilities in Python, Java, Scala, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native data technologies (S3, EC2, EKS, Glue, SageMaker, Athena, Redshift).
  • Experience with API development, integration solutions, and microservices architectures.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Proven ability to balance priorities, drive change, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data, cloud, and software engineers.
  • Collaborate with leadership to set engineering direction, architecture, and technology strategies.
  • Assess and implement integrations supporting data discovery, accessibility, and data-as-a-product initiatives.
  • Partner with platform and technology teams to evaluate and introduce tools for current and future needs.
  • Promote shared development practices and reusable solutions across enterprise teams.
  • Work with delivery leads to prioritize initiatives, manage the technical backlog, and report progress.
  • Establish and enhance DevOps practices to improve deployment efficiency and developer experience.
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines, platforms, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Contribute to cloud-based data architectures and applications.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the development and expansion of enterprise data products within a modern Snowflake-based environment. The successful candidate will contribute to data platform strategy, engineering standards, cloud technologies, and the delivery of scalable data solutions.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to data, cloud, and software engineering professionals.

  • Collaborate with technical leadership to establish engineering direction, architecture, and technology strategies.

  • Assess and implement integrations that support enterprise data discovery, accessibility, and data-as-a-product initiatives.

  • Partner with platform and technology teams to evaluate and introduce tools that address both immediate and long-term data engineering requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with enterprise technology teams to promote shared development practices and reusable solutions.

  • Partner with program and delivery leads to prioritize initiatives, maintain the team's technical backlog, and communicate progress on key deliverables.

  • Establish and enhance DevOps practices that improve engineering efficiency, deployment processes, and overall developer experience.

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines, data platforms, data lakes, and data warehouse solutions.

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of cloud-based data architectures and applications.



Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience developing data platforms, applications, and pipelines using cloud technologies.

  • Strong experience with Snowflake and modern data warehouse technologies.

  • Experience designing and supporting data ingestion and transformation workflows.

  • Strong programming capabilities using technologies such as Python, Java, Scala, and SQL.

  • Solid knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native data technologies, including services such as S3, EC2, EKS, Glue, SageMaker, Athena, and Redshift.

  • Experience with API development, integration solutions, and microservices architectures.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions, manage competing priorities, drive change, and deliver measurable outcomes.
