Job description

Client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the modernization of tooling enablement functions. This role is responsible for designing, modeling, developing, and managing data warehouse objects in the Snowflake cloud data store, utilizing ETL pipelines (Talend, Informatica) and APIs. The ideal candidate is a self-driven, strategic thinker who thrives in collaborative environments and brings deep technical expertise in Snowflake, data engineering, and distributed systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable data solutions using Snowflake for optimized storage and processing.
  • Migrate existing data domains/flows from relational databases to Snowflake cloud data store.
  • Identify, optimize, and implement new/existing data workflows and integrity practices.
  • Integrate data governance and data science tools with the Snowflake ecosystem.
  • Develop data models and ETL processes to ensure high-quality ingestion into Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with team members to design and implement effective data workflows and transformations.
  • Maintain and optimize Snowflake environments to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives, documentation, and best practices for data management and governance.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve deliverables.
  • Design and develop data ingestion pipelines using Talend/Informatica following industry best practices.
  • Write efficient SQL and Python scripts for large dataset analysis and end-to-end automation.
  • Design and implement data distribution layers using Snowflake REST API.
  • Support development of semantic models in Snowflake and Power BI (preferred).
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, MIS, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in data analysis, data object development, and modeling in Snowflake.
  • Hands‑on experience with Snowflake REST API.
  • Strong ETL experience with Informatica and Talend.
  • Proficiency in SQL query development and Python scripting for automation and analytics.
  • Proven ability to work in distributed systems environments.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., DB2) and data transformation practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Strong data modeling concepts and schema design for both relational and cloud data stores.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to collaborate across IT and business groups globally.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into Snowflake.
