As a Data Engineer, you will design and maintain data pipelines to transform and integrate complex datasets into a reporting system, enabling actionable insights and advanced analytics. Your work will support the development of cutting-edge web applications and data-driven workflows.

This is an on-site regular full-time position in our HQ in North Vancouver, BC, where employees enjoy full access to our facility amenities including a well-equipped gym, squash court, climbing wall, steam room, and more!

Our Team

To make well-informed decisions, Oil & Gas asset operators need a clear picture of the inner workings of piping infrastructure. The team at DarkVision makes this happen. Our experts from across the machine vision, imaging, computer graphics, and data analytics sectors have created the most technologically advanced platform for pipeline and downhole diagnostics.

With the largest ultrasound datasets globally, DarkVision's Research & Innovation team unites top-tier PhDs, engineers, and research scientists to pioneer automated image processing and deep learning architectures. Come join our team as we embark on the exciting journey ahead to become the global leader in industrial imaging.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain scalable pipelines to process industrial asset inspection data and prepare it for generating reports and visualizations.
  • Develop workflows to transform raw datasets into enriched, structured formats suitable for both analytical tools and client-facing web applications.
  • Collaborate with analysts and other stakeholders to integrate data outputs into a reporting system that meets business and client needs.
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to maintain the integrity of the reporting system.
  • Automate and monitor data processing workflows to ensure reliability and scalability.
  • Leverage modern cloud infrastructure and data tools to manage storage, processing, and pipeline orchestration.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience with data processing frameworks such as dbt, Pandas, or PySpark.
  • SQL skills with experience in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Knowledge of data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data services, such as AWS S3, RDS, or equivalent platforms.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on creating efficient and maintainable data workflows.
  • Experience working with datasets involving scientific, geospatial, or sensor data.
  • Knowledge of best practices in data modeling, versioning, and lineage tracking.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform for managing cloud resources.
  • Familiarity with integrating data pipelines into web-based reporting systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
