Job summary

TD is seeking a Data Designer-II (Sr. BSA) in Toronto to translate business needs into Azure-based data solutions and drive data-driven decisions. You will design data models, pipelines, and dictionaries while ensuring data quality and governance.

You will work closely with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Team Leads in an Agile environment, documenting specifications and supporting data warehousing initiatives across the Azure stack.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and Microsoft Azure stack.

Responsibilities

This role focuses on translating business needs into technical data solutions, ensuring data quality, and facilitating data-driven decision-making. The individual will leverage their in-depth experience in data warehousing, particularly within the Microsoft Azure stack, to drive data analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design.Key Responsibilities:Data Design and Analysis: Utilize extensive data design expertise to analyze and interpret complex data sets, ensuring data quality and integrity. Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and data dictionaries to support business requirements.Technical Solutions: Translate business needs into technical data solutions, leveraging the Microsoft Azure stack. Design and implement data warehousing solutions, ETL processes, and data pipelines to support data-driven decision-making.Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Scrum Masters (SMs), Product Owners (POs), and Team Leads (TLs) in an Agile methodology. Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment of project goals and deliverables.Documentation and Artifacts: Maintain necessary artifacts, including requirements documentation, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.Agile Methodology: Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and project outcomes.EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATIONUndergraduate degree or Technical Certificate and/or2+ years of relevant experience from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific or financial backgroundTechnical Skills:Data Warehousing: Proficient in data warehousing concepts and technologies, with a focus on the Microsoft Azure stack. Experience with Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure data services.ETL Processes: Expertise in designing and implementing ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources. Familiarity with tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and other ETL technologies.Data Models: Familiarity with data models, including snow flake and star schema Datawarehouse models, schemas, and data dictionaries. Experience with both relational and dimensional data modeling techniques.SQL: Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write complex queries, optimize query performance, and troubleshoot SQL-related issues.Business Analysis: Strong business analysis skills, including the ability to gather and document requirements, conduct gap analysis, and develop functional specifications. Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and other business analysis tools.Soft Skills:Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
