Job Summary

Equinix is seeking a Data Center Project Manager to support our critical facility environment within our Operations Project Management (OPM) team. The OPM team is cross-functional and includes regional operations projects, working with internal partners, customers, and external suppliers and manufacturers. This role requires a project manager familiar with data center operations and associated facility designs.

The OPM supports data center operations management in executing capital projects related to End of Life (EOL), Single Point of Failure (SPOF) infrastructure equipment, and systems. The team often handles on-demand/unplanned customer-facing projects. This individual contributor role demands a self-starter and disciplined professional.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects across Canada, possibly requiring travel.
  • Apply various planning approaches to develop, facilitate, and lead complex projects and schedules.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving relevant stakeholders to ensure feasibility.
  • Create overall project schedules aligned with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for seamless project execution.
  • Deliver multiple projects supporting business strategy and facility sustainability.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget, collaborating on budget variances.
  • Procure equipment, materials, and services needed for projects.
  • Ensure resource availability and proper allocation.
  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor progress and assess risks.
  • Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs using verification techniques.
  • Track project performance with appropriate tools and report to management.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and lead meetings and teams.
  • Apply risk management techniques to minimize project risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with various internal departments such as finance, construction, and SME teams.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and lessons learned.
  • Build diverse teams to accomplish projects and secure reliable resources.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical, UPS, mechanical, and control systems, including HVAC, generators, and safety systems.
  • Proven project management experience, preferably in construction.
  • Experience working in critical facilities, with data center experience preferred.
  • Understanding of large power distribution and control systems, redundancy, resiliency, and protection.
  • Knowledge of data center power and cooling solutions.
  • Ability to develop strategic project plans for complex data center facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum).
  • Ability to navigate complex situations and make timely decisions.
  • Skill in managing change and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and curiosity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Passion for quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in Canadian French is a plus.
