Job summary

Softline Technology Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Architect to design and implement data architecture for complex, distributed applications. The role requires collaboration with business stakeholders and IT teams to map data requirements to target models.

The position follows a hybrid work model, with on-site presence three days per week at the OPS office and two days remote, and emphasizes strong SQL/RDBMS, data modeling, and data governance skills.

Description

This position is listed as “Hybrid” unless otherwise instructed by the Client; the resource is expected to work 7.25 hours per calendar day between the standard wording hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks) every Monday to Friday inclusive. As part of the hybrid arrangement, the resource is required to be onsite on (3 days) at the designated OPS office location and work remotely on (2 days).

Responsibilities: Develops and implements the data architecture for application development in a complex and distributed environment, including the determination of the flow and distribution of data, the location of databases, and data access methods. Review data models for source MECP applications and databases, analyze and design/develop logical data model specifications for target systems. Collaborate with business to ensure coverage of data needs for target systems. Work with development supporting the development of technical artefacts.

Core Skills and Experience (8+ years):

• Demonstrated experience reviewing and analyzing business needs and requirements for existing IT applications and related data and designing target data models .
• Strong experience in research, data analysis and development of effective IT data model designs.
• Work with related IT initiatives as required to align with the enterprise data modeling standards and requirements.
• Expert analytical skills and experience to analyze and understand source data models and data including developing data mappings for source and target systems.
• Excellent RDBMS knowledge including SQL skills for carrying out deep analysis and/or to confirm/validate data.
• Able to work and effectively engage with a multi-functional (e.g. Business Analysts, SME, Developers, Architects etc.) team to ensure IT deliverables produced are of high quality.
• Able to understand the problem domain and target IT/business requirements and communicate data modeling outputs as required.
• Quick learner with ability to adapt and work independently with little or no supervision.
• Able to carry out research from a variety of sources to ensure alignment with current IT trends and best practices.
• Expert skills and experience with the use of data modeling tools.
• Ability to engage and provide information sharing support to IT architects (Business, Information, Solution, and Technology) as may be required.
• Ensures integration with related corporate and client cluster policies and standards, and incorporation of best practices in the industry.
• Knowledge and experience in creating, developing and managing logical and physical data models.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience with similar MECP applications covering environmental (inspections, compliance, enforcement) systems, and hazardous waste management systems
• Experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools
• Experience with use of Python in aiding data processing activities.
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
• Knowledge of Parquet, Delta-Lake data formats.
• Knowledge of Azure Data Lakehouses, Star schema, Snowflake.
