Arterra Wines Canada is seeking a Data Architect to drive data architecture initiatives. This role involves designing innovative data solutions and ensuring data governance while collaborating across teams. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in data engineering and architecture, particularly with Databricks, and will contribute to transformative projects within the wine industry.

Role Summary:
Data Architect will design, implement and support rich data sets that are provincially regulated. Focus on building creative solutions that have an immediate impact on tackling meaningful business problems. Data Architect will apply extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills and practices to perform complex assignments to bridge the gap between business and technology by delivering critical insights and analysis to shape strategy, evolve data connectivity, and provide insights into data transformation while ensuring data is accessible, secure, and reliable. The ideal candidate will work with business requirements, data models, and technology to create a framework for data storage, processing, and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing and implementing data architectures
Defining, Design and Implement how data is stored, accessed, and used within the organization, including data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.
Establish processes and policies to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security, including data governance and compliance.
Collaborate with various stakeholders to bridge the gap between business goals and technical implementation, ensuring that data architecture supports data-driven decision-making.
Strong experience implementing and using SDLC, CI/CD
Participate in peer code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications and development standards.
Leads and Offers guidance to development teams, data analysts, and other stakeholders on best practices, data standards, and governance to maximize business intelligence and business analytics effectiveness.
Lead a team of analysts within Data Engineering group, including project oversight, coaching and professional development
Lead development of assets supporting scalable analytic approaches capable of being leveraged by data scientists and analysts

Technical Documentation
Creates and maintains the technical documentation for all technical development and for all design aspects to provide support to solution development, solution support and solution testing teams for enterprise solutions

Support
Participate in peer code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications and development standards.
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve complex defects or incidents including escalation to Vendors.
Identify the opportunity to automate processes to reduce manual intervention.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Experience:
6-8 years’ experience as a Data Engineer or ETL Engineer
2+ more years of related work experience as a Data Architect leveraging Databricks preferrable.
Service-oriented self-starter that can work independently and prioritize workload
Ability to take ownership and follow through on all tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate well with all levels of the organization.
Consumer Packaged Goods or Beverage alcohol industry experience preferred.
Strong hands on experience in Databricks, Data Lakehouse technologies, PowerBI, SQL, TSQL, Python.
Expertise in the application of predictive modeling and machine learning techniques

COMPENSATION:Budgeted Range – $89,028.00 -115,213.00 the budgeted range takes into account several factors and qualifications that are considered in making compensation decisions including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements. Base pay is only one component of the total rewards offering at Arterra.
